We are pleased to present a solo exhibition of tapestries and works on silk by Amina Saoudi Aït Khay (b.1955, Casablanca, Morocco), encapsulating her body of work from the 1990s to today.

Her practice stems from a deeply personal and intuitive process, influenced by traditions inherited through generations. Recovered from her previous practice of painting on silk with gutta and a cruet, Saoudi Aït Khay's tapestry works often begin with traditional dyeing processes, using natural materials that she sources from her surroundings. Using the loom as her blank canvas, Saoudi Aït Khay creates intricate patterns through gestures of hand-weaving; these rhythmic patterns recount a story of Amazigh cultural history and depict memories of Moroccan and Tunisian landscapes. The artist experiments with natural dyeing, which she partially integrates into the weft in order to introduce dyed light into the body of her weaving
